Sheldon Blue took first prize at the Lafayette Art Association's annual juried show and is shown here celebrating at last night's reception (Oct. 30, 2011). Sheldon has been a longtime Lafayette Lifewriter, sharing amazing stories of growing up in Lafayette. But he's also a talented watercolorist. His one-man show was part of the Lafayette Art Association gallery last month.
Sheldon is posing near two pieces of artwork that belong to Ellen LaBry, another talented Lafayette Lifewriter, artist and teacher of art. Ellen would watch Sheldon doodle in class and comment on how he needed to develop those sketches. This is the result.
And Lifewriter Carolyn Pons' husband, Joe, also took home awards from the annual show. He's shown here next to a photograph of a Roseate spoonbill in flight, titled "On Gossamer Wings."
